Day 11 Prebiotics - July 14

I don't know what it is with me, but every night for the past few I have struggled.  I have had to force myself to take my meds/suppliments.  I am so drained by the end of the day all I want to do is sleep.  And I DON'T want to get up, make my stuff to take, then take it.  I don't like getting up 4+ times a night to pee either.  It's starting to frustrate me.

Anyhow, I made myself take them again last night.

Overall I'm feeling okay.  I am drained today, but I think that has to do with the heat, and the level of exertion I was using yesterday.  My bodyMedia has me being quite active yesterday, burning over 3000 calories, and the highest average METS in one day I've had.  (Mets are metabolic units).

This morning, I really REALLY don't want to go running.  The worst part is, I'll have to get to the farmers market before it gets really busy today to pick some stuff up.  That's in 45minutes.  So I've gotta figure out when I can run.  I can't leave it for this afternoon - it'll be well over 30C, and will feel like 39C(100F) with the humidex.  I DEFINITELY can't run in that.  But I still need to get out there and run.  My calorie burn may be high, but my weight loss is stalled out still.  Grrrrr.

July 13 BodyMedia

Not bad for yesterday.  But below is the best part.  When I logged in, I saw this message:

I burned the most calories in one day yesterday, and I reached a highest average METS yesterday too.

What are METS and AVG. METS?

The energy cost of an activity can be measured in units called METs (metabolic equivalent). 1 MET is the energy expenditure for everyone "at rest." Two people resting will burn different amounts of calories, but they both burn 1 MET.

You can think of METS as a multiplier of calorie burn. You burn 1 MET when you are at rest. An activity that takes 3 METS burns approximately 3 times as many calories. Mild exercise (such as walking at a leisurely pace) increases energy expenditure to approximately 3 METs, while vigorous activity might require 6 METS.

The online Activity Manager shows you calorie burn and "AVG. METS", which stands for "Average METS". Calorie burn is individual to you, while METS can be compared between people.

Guess that means I was fairly active throughout the day yesterday.  Yeah me.

Today's Kick in the Butt

I took yesterday off. Now if I want to reach my goals, I need to step it back up.

No more waiting for a miracle to happen. I'm gonna go out there and get one for myself.

It takes so little right now to get my motivation going in full swing. To get me on the right track for a day full of the right decisions. To motivate me to make every minute, every decision count. All it takes is a half hour of hard work. Once I've done that, I'm rearing to go with the rest of my day. I want to make every decision count to back up what I did that morning. Those endorphins are great little things, aren't they.

And what is today's step? It is to get on my shoes and get out there and run. C25K Week3Day3. Time to kick it's butt to the curb. 6min run, 1min walk repeat 4 times. Finish with a 2min run. You can do this. Heck, you finished the San Francisco Marathon last fall! This is a walk in the park compared to that right???

Okay, so no comparing with who I was. Yes, the 6min runs are getting harder. But I think my heart/lungs have adjusted again. I'm sure I can do it. The third set is always the hardest. Then the break between the third and fourth is only 30seconds. I know. What a cruel joke! But I KNOW I CAN DO IT!. I just need to believe in myself. And get out there before the heat of the day hits.

I'm not going to let this challenge stop me. I am stronger than it.

***UPDATE******
Back from my run. I kicked W3D3's butt. Done strong. 2.5miles. Avg HR was 143. Came home dripping wet. I usually don't sweat water, but I really pumped it out today. I usually get a crusty salty coating when I exercise.

Day 10 Prebiotics - July 13

Hmmmm.  Friday the 13th.  I didn't even notice until I saw that on facebook this morning...

Anyhow, I'm still feeling pretty good.  No major changes to anything.  No body aches.  No pains.  My mood is good today.

Let's hope I can keep this good feeling going, right through my morning run.

Not bad for a day off.  I didn't exercise, but with all the walking I got in my 30min of moderate exercise.  I didn't get in any vigorous at all though.

I did over eat.  I guess I could have headed that off by not eating that bowl of pasta late last night, but...

Not as bad as I was worried about this morning.

Day 9 Prebiotics - July 12

Today I'm feeling tired again.  I just don't know.  Maybe it's the heat.  Maybe it's the bed.  I'm just not sure.

Last night, I had to fight with myself to take my meds/suppliments.  Not sure why, just did.  But I finally got up and took them.  Half an hour later I was in bed.

Overall, I'm feeling okay.  I got a job offer.  Actually, I kind of got it on Monday, but have been playing phone tag with the person making the offer, so I don't know for sure what the pay is, etc.  But I know what the job is, and I'm likely going to take it.

I will need to do something about my cellular phone though, but that's another story.

So I guess I'm feeling good.  Between that and Lee getting good news at work, it's all good.  Only thing is, he might not get the time to renovate the bathroom after all.

Oh yeah.  I almost forgot.  I looked at how much meds/suppliments I have left.  There actually isn't much left.  So I'll be running out right around the 2 week mark.  Yeah!

July 11 BodyMedia

I didn't do as badly yesterday as I thought.  I was sure I ate well over 2000 calories, but not quite.  I did overdo it a bit, but no where near as bad as I had thought.

I didn't have any snacks yesterday.  That's no so good.  I NEED to focus and not let that happen again.

I did get in 22 minutes of vigorous activity - my goal is 15.  So although I didn't reach my full 45 minutes, I did good on that one.  Steps fell short again.  Sleep too, but it's getting better.

Overall, I still have a descent calorie deficit.

FYI, the scale is fluctuating 226-228 for the past few days.  I haven't broken into 225 yet.  But I'm not giving up.  I just need to really push.
